The webshop checklist
SEO checklist for webshops: 6 checks
Your store passes this part of the audit when your own site search finds products even with typos, every product and category page has its own title and description, products carry structured data with price and availability, category pages have a short useful text, removed products redirect and images have alt text. Google says AI search needs nothing beyond this.

The 6 checks
Site search that handles real searches
Typos, synonyms and attributes such as colour or size, and never an empty results page. Test it: search for a product misspelled and by a feature.
A unique title and description on every page
Each product and category page says what it is in its own words. Test it: search your site in Google and look for repeated titles.
Product structured data
Price, availability, shipping and returns marked up so Google can show them in results. Test it: run a product page through Google's Rich Results Test.
Category pages with a short, useful text
A few sentences that help shoppers choose, not just a grid of products. Test it: read your biggest category page as a first-time visitor.
Removed products redirected
A discontinued product's address sends visitors to the closest alternative or its category, so its search history is not lost. Test it: open an old product URL.
Alt text on product images
A short description of what each image shows. It helps people using screen readers and helps search engines understand the image.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to do anything special for AI search?
Google says there are no extra requirements to appear in its AI features. Pages need to be indexable and helpful. Clear, factual product content and structured data serve both.
Should I use the manufacturer's product descriptions?
It isn't penalised, but it gives Google no reason to prefer your page over every other store with the same text. Write your own, at least for your most important products.
