Product video formats and lengths for every channel
Use your gallery's format (1:1 or 4:5) and 10 to 45 seconds on product pages, 9:16 and 6 to 20 seconds for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, 4:5 or 1:1 and 6 to 15 seconds for feed ads, and a short silent 16:9 loop for website banners. These are common starting points, not platform rules, so check each platform before a campaign.

Formats and lengths by channel
These are conventions, not platform requirements. Check each platform's current specifications before a campaign.
| Placement | Aspect ratio | Typical length |
|---|---|---|
| Product page gallery | Same as your images (1:1 or 4:5), or 16:9 on desktop | 10โ45 seconds |
| Stories, Reels, TikTok, Shorts | 9:16 | 6โ20 seconds |
| Feed ads | 4:5 or 1:1 | 6โ15 seconds |
| Website hero or banner | 16:9 or wider | Short loop, no sound |
What to show in 15 seconds
A short product video for a feed or gallery can follow a simple structure. The timings are a starting point.
| Time | Show | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 0โ2 s | The product, clearly, in motion | Stop the scroll and identify the product |
| 2โ7 s | The product in use or in its setting | Show purpose and scale |
| 7โ12 s | One or two details, such as material or mechanism | Answer the quality question |
| 12โ15 s | The product again, with its name | Make it memorable and findable |
Make it work without sound
Most feed and gallery video is watched muted. Show the product in the first second, keep any text short and readable on a phone, and add captions to anything that is said. Music and voice-over are for the viewers who turn the sound on.
Frequently asked questions
What aspect ratio should a product page video use?
The same as your product images, usually 1:1 or 4:5, so the gallery doesn't jump when the shopper swipes to the video. On desktop, 16:9 also works.
How long should a product video be?
Six to fifteen seconds for ads and social, and up to about 45 seconds on the product page when there is more to show, such as how something folds or works.
